ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a maximum-ownership founding engineering role at a pre-seed AI-native fintech startup building intelligent automation for private market operations. You won't just write code — you'll help shape the product roadmap, work directly alongside customers, and play a core part in building the company from the ground up. Top performers will have a clear path into a leadership role as the team scales.
The platform uses AI agents to connect to inboxes, web portals, bank feeds, and file storage to automatically capture documents and data, reconcile transactions, extract key data points, and generate journal entries and reporting packages for existing ERPs. What traditionally took fund accounting teams days of manual work now takes minutes — fully traceable and collaborative in real-time.
You'll work side by side with the founding team and early design partners to push the capabilities of the platform forward at pace.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Build and own core components of a production-grade AI-native operations platform
- Design, implement, and maintain agentic and LLM-powered workflows for financial operations (reconciliation, data extraction, journal entry generation)
- Develop robust backend APIs and services that integrate with ERPs, banking systems, email, and file storage
- Work directly with customers and design partners to gather requirements, define priorities, and communicate technical trade-offs
- Actively contribute to product roadmap decisions alongside the founding team
- Help establish engineering standards, architecture patterns, and a culture of high ownership and fast iteration
- Contribute to hiring and attracting exceptional talent as the team grows
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required
- 1–3 years of professional software engineering experience
- Hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs) and agentic/autonomous systems in production
- Strong backend development skills — production-grade APIs, services, and infrastructure
- Experience building or operating AI-native operations infrastructure (e.g. for accounting, reporting, reconciliation, or treasury workflows)
- Domain knowledge in private markets fund accounting, reporting, reconciliation, and/or treasury processes
- Proven ability to operate with high ownership and autonomy in a small, fast-moving team
- Comfort navigating ambiguity with proactive communication and collaborative instincts
- Based in Berlin or willing to relocate; eligible to work in Germany (visa sponsorship available)
Nice to Have
- Experience working with early-stage customers or design partners to shape product direction
- Prior experience in a founding or early-stage startup environment
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Salary: €70,000 – €110,000 per year, depending on experience
