Senior Backend Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE

Join a small, fast-moving engineering team building the backbone of an AI-powered supply chain platform for Consumer Packaged Goods companies. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll own backend systems end-to-end — turning messy, real-world logistics data into programmable, reliable infrastructure that scales globally.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design and implement backend systems that power AI-driven supply chain planning and execution decisions.

• Architect data models and pipelines to ingest and organise complex, real-world supply chain data.

• Ensure user requests and supply plans are processed in real time with high reliability.

• Build scalable, high-performance SQL queries and data access patterns over large datasets.

• Ship production-grade services using modern backend frameworks and rigorous testing practices.

• Collaborate closely with product and engineering to translate logistics workflows into software.

• Operate and improve deployment and runbook processes to maintain 24/7 system availability.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 5+ years of hands-on backend engineering experience with a track record of shipping real products.

• Strong Python expertise and experience with modern backend frameworks such as FastAPI and testing tools like pytest.

• Proficiency with AI-assisted code generation and management tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex), including experience parallelising instances for continuous operation.

• Proven ability to design scalable data architectures and own backend systems end-to-end, including real-time request processing.

• Strong SQL skills and experience writing high-performance queries across millions of records.

• Experience ingesting and organising unstructured, messy real-world data.

• Familiarity with DevOps practices and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).

• Bonus: experience with frontend frameworks and their testing.

• Comfortable working with minimal supervision in a small, fast-paced startup environment.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary range: $110,000 – $200,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is available.

On-site in Munich, Germany.
