ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a backend engineering role on the core infrastructure team of an early-stage energy tech company building the foundational layer for next-generation dynamic electricity plans. You'll work on a modular billing engine, low-level energy-market communication protocols, and a full accounting ledger — systems that need to be both highly reliable and infinitely scalable.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Design systems that tame complexity at the architectural level, not just the code level.
- Scale core infrastructure to handle dynamic billing, energy trading integrations, and real-time data flows.
- Take decisive action in ambiguous situations, shipping thoughtful solutions without waiting for perfect information.
- Continuously raise the quality bar across the codebase, technical processes, and team practices.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 3–10+ years of backend development experience with TypeScript (Node.js) and a strong grasp of asynchronous programming.
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and an ORM (e.g. Drizzle) for data access patterns.
- Familiarity with Next.js for backend services — API routes or server components.
- Working knowledge of distributed systems concepts and how to design scalable, maintainable services.
- Experience integrating Stripe payments and building billing flows end-to-end.
- Strong CS fundamentals — formal degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Clear written and verbal communication, an ownership mindset, and comfort operating in a fast-paced, early-stage environment.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Salary: €80,000 – €120,000 per year
- Visa sponsorship: Available
