Founding Engineer (Full Stack)

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a rare opportunity to join a small, early-stage team as a Founding Engineer (Full Stack) and help reshape how the construction industry handles blueprint analysis, material takeoffs, and cost estimation. You'll work at the intersection of computer vision, AI, and product engineering — building the interfaces and systems that turn complex model outputs into fast, intuitive experiences for real users.

You'll be one of the first engineers on the team, meaning your decisions will shape the product, the codebase, and the engineering culture from the ground up. This role is fully on-site in San Francisco, five days a week.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design and build beautiful, intuitive UIs that surface computer vision model outputs to end users in a clear and actionable way.

• Tackle complex geometry rendering, streaming data systems, and sophisticated user interaction patterns.

• Ship early prototypes rapidly, then iterate continuously based on direct user feedback.

• Contribute across the full stack — from polished React/TypeScript frontends to Python-backed services.

• Collaborate closely with founders and the broader team to define product direction from day one.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required

• Proven experience taking products from 0 to 1, ideally with traction or paying customers to show for it.

• Strong frontend foundation in React and TypeScript, paired with solid full-stack engineering capabilities.

• Proficiency in Python and comfort with open-ended, math-oriented problem solving.

• Strong CS fundamentals — an exceptional project portfolio can substitute for a formal degree.

• Prior experience as a founding engineer or early employee at a startup.

• Exceptional communication skills grounded in empathy and honesty.

• US Citizenship required (visa sponsorship is not available for this role).

• Ability and willingness to work on-site in San Francisco five days a week.

Nice to Have

• Proficiency with Tailwind CSS for building responsive, utility-first UIs.

• Background as a startup founder or very early startup employee.

• Familiarity with construction, real estate, or PDF/document workflows.

• Impact-driven mindset with a passion for making housing and infrastructure development more accessible.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Salary: $100,000 – $180,000 per year, depending on experience.

• Early-stage equity commensurate with a founding team role.

LOCATION

• On-site, San Francisco, CA, United States.

• Five days per week in-person collaboration expected.
