ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a high-ownership engineering role at a Y Combinator–backed AI startup automating sales workflows for distributors and manufacturers. You'll be the critical bridge between the product and the customer — taking technical implementations from sales handoff all the way to live deployment, and shaping the product from the field.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own the full technical implementation of the AI platform from sales handoff through go-live.
- Configure and fine-tune AI models for customer-specific use cases, including prompt engineering and behavior adjustments.
- Structure customer data and build system integrations with platforms like SAP and a variety of REST/GraphQL APIs.
- Develop prototypes to demonstrate new features or solve emerging customer problems, then evolve them into scalable solutions.
- Engage daily with technical users and senior business stakeholders, translating their pain points into engineering decisions.
- Act as the voice of the customer internally, surfacing product gaps and recurring patterns to the core engineering team.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Native fluency in German — this is essential for the role.
- Strong full-stack engineering skills across Python, React, TypeScript, SQL, and API development.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise system integrations, including ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and REST/GraphQL APIs.
- Practical experience with LLMs, AI agents, and prompt engineering, with the ability to adapt model behavior to specific domains.
- Proven ability to work with messy, real-world data and establish reliable structures quickly.
- A customer-obsessed mindset — comfortable sitting at the intersection of engineering, product, and live customer environments.
- High agency and ownership; you proactively identify problems and drive solutions without waiting to be directed.
- Clear, confident communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Comfort with ambiguity, legacy systems, and imperfect data — a scrappy, pragmatic problem-solver at heart.
