ABOUT THE ROLE

We're a venture-backed AI messaging infrastructure startup building production-grade systems that power AI agents across popular messaging platforms. As a founding macOS DevOps Engineer (mid-level Member of Technical Staff), you'll be a core member of a small, high-impact team responsible for building, operating, and scaling macOS data center infrastructure in San Francisco.

This is an on-site, founding-team role — you'll have significant ownership over the reliability, automation, and operational excellence of systems that developers and production workloads depend on every day.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Maintain and operate macOS data center infrastructure at scale.
  • Build and continuously improve automation, deployment, and monitoring systems.
  • Develop automation tooling using Swift and shell scripting (bash/zsh).
  • Manage CI/CD pipelines and developer infrastructure.
  • Ensure high levels of system reliability, performance, and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex systems and infrastructure issues.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering teams to support development and production workflows.
  • Drive improvements in DevOps practices and operational excellence across the organization.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required

  • Proven experience in macOS DevOps — building and delivering production macOS data center infrastructure.
  • Strong proficiency in Swift (required; this is a dealbreaker).
  • Solid experience with shell scripting (bash/zsh) and infrastructure automation.
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps practices: CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, deployment, and infrastructure management.
  • macOS systems administration at scale — installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Linux systems and tooling.
  • Understanding of networking concepts, system performance tuning, and reliability engineering.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills at the systems level.
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, and reliable automation code.

Nice to Have

  • Experience managing macOS fleets or data center environments.
  • Familiarity with MDM management tools (e.g., Jamf).
  • Knowledge of low-level macOS internals or system frameworks.
  • Experience with Rust or Objective-C.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Salary: $150,000 – $200,000 USD annually
  • Early-stage equity as a founding team member
  • Visa sponsorship: Not available
