Backend Engineer (.NET)

For one of our clients, we are looking for a Backend Engineer (.NET) to join a product-focused team developing and maintaining a modern digital platform. This role offers the opportunity to build scalable backend services, work with cloud technologies, and collaborate closely with engineers, product, and QA.

You will contribute to the ongoing development of the platform, help improve system reliability and performance, and use AI-assisted development tools in your day-to-day work. The team values clean code, collaboration, and continuous learning.

TECH STACK

• Architecture and Tooling: Containerised environments, event-driven systems, and messaging tools

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate with product and QA to clarify requirements and deliver new features.

• Develop and maintain reliable, scalable backend services.

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code in line with team standards.

• Participate in code reviews and help improve engineering practices.

• Monitor application health through logs, metrics, and alerts, and assist with troubleshooting.

• Investigate and resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks, and technical inefficiencies.

• Suggest improvements to systems, development processes, and tooling.

• Develop a solid understanding of the platform’s architecture and deployment processes, gradually taking ownership of feature delivery with support from the team.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

• 2–4 years of experience developing backend services.

• Hands-on experience with C# .NET, PostgreSQL, and Redis or comparable technologies.

• Solid understanding of clean code principles and software development best practices.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably GCP, and containerised environments.

• Exposure to event-driven architectures or messaging tools, such as Pub/Sub or queues.

• Understanding of logging, metrics, monitoring, and their role in troubleshooting.

• Experience with integration testing or other automated testing approaches.

• Familiarity with domain-driven design concepts.

• Awareness of backend security best practices and tools.

• Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, or ChatGPT.

• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage tasks and priorities effectively.

• A commitment to building maintainable, scalable, and reliable software.

• Proficiency in English, spoken and written.
