Job Description Application Developer - Entry Job Summary Entry Application Developers assist the development team with all aspects of software design and coding. Their primary role is to learn the codebase, attend agile meetings, write basic code, fix bugs, and assist the Scrum Master in all technical tasks. Assist in building high quality software in compliance with coding standards, technical design, and testing standards.

To ensure success as an entry software developer, you should have a good working knowledge of basic programming languages, the ability to learn new technology quickly, and the ability to work in a team environment. Ultimately, a top-class Entry Software Developer provides valuable support to the agile team while continually improving their coding and design skills.

Organizational Relationships Department

Delivery Reports to: Service Delivery Manager Directs: N/A Status: Salaried, Exempt (Full Time) Key Job Responsibilities Participate in all development team planning activities including sprint planning, story point estimation, sprint review, and sprint retrospectives for agile projects and specification and schedule development for waterfall projects Uphold standards of software quality, including following architectural and coding standards established for the project, testability, performance, and general standards of clean and secure code Adhere to build and deployment processes established by the development team and the supporting coding conventions Work effectively and efficiently with the development team and stakeholders Provide aid to resolve defects in application code through debugging and root cause analysis Assist with technical documentation Develop applications in one or more domains, including web, desktop, mobile or embedded systems Continuously improve and expand skill set to stay up to date with modern practices and approaches as well as integrating new technologies as needed Work independently as required Required Experience coding with at least one Object Oriented programming language (Java, C#, C++, Python) For web development:Familiarity with front end JavaScript framework such as ReactJS, Bootstrap, Angular Working knowledge of Cascading Style Sheets and HTML 5 Familiarity with web API technology such as REST or SOAP Familiarity in structured User Interface framework such as WPF, Windows Desktop Bridge, Electron, etc.

For Mobile development

Experience in developing applications for iOS or Android Experience integrating APIs into mobile clients For Embedded systems: Experience using an IDE to build, test, and deploy application development Familiarity with using code deployment tools to push applications to devices, including flashing local firmware Familiarity with databases and ability to write and execute SQL queries Familiarity with unit testing frameworks Associates degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics or related degree A combination of education, experience (1-2 years) and training may be considered in lieu of a formal degree Minimum of zero to one 1 year experience in a software developer role Good analytical and troubleshooting skills driven by a logical, methodical approach Demonstrated verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to team members Dewpoint Core Competencies Vision and Strategy - Participates in supporting Strategy and Vision.

Typical workweek is eight (8) hour workdays, five (5) days per week with some weekend work, as well as longer hours as needed.
