Job description

We are seeking a Freelance Senior Data Engineer with strong expertise in digital analytics and web data collection to join our team. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience implementing and optimizing analytics solutions while ensuring accurate, scalable, and reliable data collection across digital platforms.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, validate, and improve analytics implementations that support business insights and data-driven decision-making.

  • Equipment: You will use your own computer and equipment.
  • Engagement Type: W2 or 1099 (depending on your worker classification).

What you'll be doing

  • Implement, configure, and maintain Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Google Tag Manager (GTM) solutions.
  • Design and optimize event tracking strategies and digital measurement frameworks.
  • Validate, troubleshoot, and maintain analytics implementations to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and analytics teams to define tracking requirements and measurement solutions.
  • Support debugging and tag implementation using JavaScript when needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data quality, tracking performance, and reporting capabilities.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

What we would like to see

  • Strong hands-on experience with Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Google Tag Manager (GTM).
  • Experience implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting web analytics and tagging solutions.
  • Solid understanding of event tracking, digital measurement, and data collection strategies.
  • Experience validating and optimizing analytics implementations across web applications.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript for tag implementation, debugging, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience working in Agile environments with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Professional English proficiency with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or 6+ years of equivalent professional experience.
  • This role is currently not available for hire or work in New Mexico, and Hawaii, USA.
