Exponent | Lead Engineer, AI Accounting | New York (Flatiron) | HYBRID, 2+ days in office | $160k–$200k + equity | Full-time Exponent is a financial platform for franchise and multi-location restaurant operators: charge cards, loans, and an AI-powered Accountant that pulls in an operator's POS, bank, payroll and processor data, reconciles it, and automates the monthly close.

You'd own core systems in the Accountant: idempotent ingestion from unreliable third-party APIs, the background jobs that keep thousands of accounts in sync, and the decisions about how LLM classification behaves inside a ledger that has to be right. Full stack, focused on backend architecture. Rails, Postgres, Sidekiq. We ship multiple times a day. We want someone who ships fast and knows when to slow down. 5+ years, deep experience in any server-side framework (Rails, Django, Phoenix, TypeScript), and fluent with AI-assisted development.
