Power Platform Engineer

This role will focus primarily on enhancing and refining existing Power Apps, rather than developing applications entirely from scratch.
The core functionality of the applications is already established, and your role will be to improve the user experience by updating screens, layouts, controls and interfaces in line with the current design, usability and accessibility standards. You will work as part of an agile development team, taking requirements through the full development lifecycle. This will include understanding and refining requirements, making changes to existing applications, testing and troubleshooting, resolving defects, and supporting releases into production.
Required Skills
Good understanding of Power Apps screen design, layout, controls, and basic formulas. Strong attention to detail, particularly around visual consistency, accessibility, and user experience. Ability to work within sprint-based development processes. Good communication skills, including the ability to clarify requirements and explain changes to technical and non-technical colleagues. Organised approach to documentation, handover notes and keeping work items updated.
Required Experience
Around 2-3 years of practical experience working with Power Apps in a project or delivery environment. Experience working through normal development cycles, including assigned requirements, testing, defect resolution, and release support. Experience working with stake holders, product owners, testers, or other team members to clarify requirements and confirm that changes meet user needs. Awareness of wider Microsoft 365 and Power Platform tools would be beneficial, although the core focus is Power Apps refinement and improvement.

Microsoft Power Platform Fundamentals as a useful baseline qualification.
AZ-900
Microsoft Azure Fundamentals would also be beneficial for general Microsoft cloud awareness.
PL-400
Microsoft Power Platform Developer Associate would be a strong development-focussed qualification to work towards, particularly for designing, developing, testing, and troubleshooting Power Platform solution components. Formal development qualifications would be useful but should not be essential where the person has strong practical Power Platform experience.
