Get to know our Team The Service Mesh Engineering team is a dynamic and experienced group responsible for developing our service mesh infrastructure, which forms the backbone of our microservice architecture. We help manage service-to-service connectivity, securing traffic, providing observability metrics, and enhancing service through proper use of Hystrix, timeouts, and rate limiting. Our team collaborates, using expertise in networking, infrastructure, microservices, and more.

Get to know the Role We are looking for a experienced and enthusiastic Senior Service Mesh Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will be reporting to Senior Software Engineering Manager. You will design our service mesh infrastructure that forms the backbone of our microservice architecture. You have experience managing service-to-service communication, data plane, and control plane within a cloud environment.

This is a platform role at scale: the abstractions you design are used by hundreds of engineering teams, and the failure modes you prevent are the ones that show up as customer-facing incidents. This role is onsite based in our Petaling Jaya, Malaysia office. The Critical Tasks You Will Perform You will architect, deploy, and manage service mesh infrastructure using technologies such as Istio, Linkerd, Consul, or AWS App Mesh. You will work with development teams to understand and cater to their service communication need in a microservices architecture.

You will implement and manage service discovery, load-balancing, traffic management, and observability within the service mesh. You will ensure secure inter-service communication with mutual Transport Layer Security (mTLS) policies and access control. You will respond promptly to service interruptions and help with capacity planning and performance tuning. You will monitor service operations to detect and troubleshoot potential issues. You will contribute to the continuous improvement of our DevOps practices.

What Essential Skills You will Need You have Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. You have 3 or more years of experience managing microservices architecture. You familiar with network protocols like HTTP, TCP/IP, and gRPC. You have experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools, infrastructure as code. Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Java, or Python.

You have familiarity with service mesh technologies like istio, linkerd, consul You have experience with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and orchestration tools. You have familiarity with cloud-native stack and cloud-based environments (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)..
