About the Team
You'll join a global engineering team of approximately 75 professionals across 7 locations worldwide, including 21 colleagues in EMEA and 11 within WSW. The team works collaboratively on modern backend services supporting critical business functions, with a strong focus on engineering excellence, automation, and cloud-native development.
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Java Backend Engineer with at least 3 years of commercial experience to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications. You'll work in an agile environment, contributing to the full software development lifecycle while collaborating closely with engineers across multiple regions.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot. Build and support event-driven solutions with Kafka. Develop cloud-native applications deployed on Kubernetes. Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab. Monitor application performance using Prometheus, Grafana, and the Elastic Stack. Collaborate with distributed teams throughout the SDLC. Contribute to code quality, automation, and engineering best practices. Leverage modern AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity.
Required Experience
Minimum 3 years of professional software engineering experience. Strong Java backend development experience. Experience working with modern SDLC practices and GitLab. Good understanding of containerization and orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills in an international team environment.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent commercial experience).
Nice to Have
Experience with securities settlements and post-trade processing within financial services. AWS experience. Familiarity with additional AI-assisted development tools beyond GitHub Copilot.
